The HKIIT Spatial Application Innovation Contest 2026 came to a close on 17 January 2026. 417 Tech again worked with HKIIT on this year’s contest, themed “Technology to tackle social issues”, encouraging students to give it their all with Swift and Wonderland, a 417 Tech product, and to respond to issues in their communities through technology.
Thanks to the trust and support of primary and secondary schools, registrations grew substantially on last year. The 16 teams that reached the final gave it everything on the day to present their work. Watching students, teammates and coaches work side by side right up to the last minute was truly inspiring! 🔥
We were honoured to welcome Dr Roy Chung Chi-ping, Founder and Chairman of the Bright Future Charitable Foundation, as our guest of honour. In his speech, Dr Chung said: “Good technology isn’t about grand talk. Good technology is grounded, usable and helps people. What I appreciate most about this contest is that everyone started from ‘technology to tackle social issues’ and focused on real needs.”
Dr Chung also encouraged the students: “Learning technology isn’t hard. What’s hard is using technology to help people. Keep your empathy and your practical, hands-on spirit. When you learn while paying attention to the needs of those around you, your ability becomes influence.”
