About the competition
🔥 Introducing the HKIIT Spatial Application Innovation Contest 2026! Organised by 417 Technology Limited and HKIIT, it gives students a stage to show their ideas. Students get to use their creativity and technical skills, gain real, hands-on experience and prepare for the WWDC Swift Student Challenge. ✨
🎯 This year’s theme: “Using technology to address social issues”
We encourage participants to use new technology to look at and address real social problems, such as environmental protection, fair access to education, healthcare, community building, an ageing society and the digital divide. Using Wonderland and Swift, they create apps and solutions that can have a positive social impact.
📚 Dedicated workshops: we run workshops for every participating student, covering the Wonderland app and Swift programming in depth so they can build their own 3D scenes and games, from basic skills to developing ideas. 💻
🏆 Post-competition training: outstanding participants may join a WWDC Swift Student Challenge training programme to prepare for the international stage.

The HKIIT Spatial Application Innovation Contest 2026 concluded on 17 January 2026. 417 Tech again worked with HKIIT this year, with “Using technology to address social issues” as the theme, encouraging students to give their all with Swift programming and Wonderland, a 417 Tech product, and use technology to respond to community issues.

Prize presentation to winning students
🎤 Guest of honour’s speech
We were honoured to welcome Dr Roy Chung Chi-ping, Founder and Chairman of Bright Future Charitable Foundation, as our guest of honour. In the speech, Dr Chung said:
“Good technology isn’t about sounding impressive. Good technology is grounded, usable and helps people. What I appreciated most about this competition is that everyone started from ‘using technology to address social issues’ and focused on real needs.”
Dr Chung also encouraged the students: “Learning technology isn’t hard. The hard part is using it to help people. Keep your empathy, and stay practical and willing to put in the work. When you learn while paying attention to the needs of the people around you, your abilities become influence.”
